Everything but the Horse Rally

On May 6th, 2017, Katie had her first official Pony Club Rally (other than Quiz Rally).  This was a D level "Everything But the Horse" rally.  It is designed to go through the rally process with the younger kids without the stress of riding.  Pony Club is designed to put the emphasis on horse management and team work over riding ability, so this rally is a way of explaining and showing them that process.

They started off the morning by setting up their tack room and getting their ponies settled into their stalls.  Then they had a little bit of free time to run the jumps, followed by helmet inspections.  The rest of the day the groups rotated through stations which included a dressage course where they were the horse, they jogged out their ponies for the vet to ensure they are sound for riding, they answered knowledge questions for each jump of the jumping course and had an art station where they got to paint pictures.  While all of that was going on they were also being judged on how clean and organized their tack room was, if they had all the required stuff in their kits for a rally, how well groomed their pony was and how well they worked as a team.

At the end of the day was the awards ceremony and low and behold, the Silver Snaffles girls took first place!
