Pony Club D Event Derby 2018

Pony Club D Event Derby has become one of my favorite events each year.  I love the horses and the girls and how it is run by the older pony clubbers... and it's more laid back than Mega Rally.  Well this year Alex and Janet were going also.  Janet wanted to go up Friday night, so I ended up hauling Maisy and Ed up with me since Julie could only take 6 of the 8 horses in her big trailer.  It was a fun adventure hauling horses on my own... however the huge rainstorm that we hit right as we got on the interstate was a bit less than fun.  But we made it up there just before the sun went down and got the horses tucked in for the night, then got our tent set up just before Talia and Elenore arrived with their RV (we plugged into their generator for coffee and phone charging).
The next day was Dressage day.  Katie rode well... though Maisy wasn't so keen on halting for her test and Katie somehow got a bit mixed up on her test and went off course.  That evening the girls were able to do cross country schooling for an extra fee.  That was a big hit since they don't get to do actual cross country jumping  out in the field there till they are at least a D3.
The final day was show jumping and cross country and of course awards.  Katie did well with her jumping.  I believe she had one or two refusals, but over all she did really well and Maisy was a good girl as always.  Katie's team ended up with a first place for Horse Management and a second place overall.  It was another fun rally in the book and we look forward to doing it again next year!
